<p>Anyways there are always ways to improve your life and fitness. No matter what age or fitness level. So here are 16 tips to improve your life NOW:</p>
<p>   1. Figure out your goals. If you dont have any then make some. If you have some then maybe its time to figure out the baby steps you need to take to reach them.</p>
<p>   2. Eat better foods. If it cant be traced back in 3 steps then its probably not good for you. Heres an example. Cow-butcher- store=beef,   Fields-factory-store=corn.</p>
<p>   3. Take time out of your day to make 5 people smile.</p>
<p>   4. Do the things that make you happy. I dont mean buy 8 pizzas and eat them if pizza makes you happy, I mean if you like dogs go to a dog park. Little things that make you happy.</p>
<p>   5. Drink tea. Teas like green tea not so much like the chik-fil-a sweet tea.</p>
<p>   6. Time is more valuable then money. Dont waste it. If you have a goal or something you want to do, save all the time youll take figuring it out yourself by going and learning from somebody whos an expert in that field.</p>
<p>   7. Energy is another thing more valuable then money. Dont waste it on gossip, negative stuff, hate, or things you cant control. Nobody likes an energy vampire.</p>
<p>   8. Exerscise! Nuff said</p>
<p>   9. Help someone in need. It freaked me out when one day I ran out of gas and nobody stopped by to help, 2 hours passed and 1 dude just asked me for directions and left. (I called a friend to help me out and he saved the day). I had no idea how many people just dont help now. Help someone in need, the best thing is when you know they cant pay you back. Thats true help.</p>
<p>   10. Your life is your life. Dont compare it to others. You never know the journey they have been through in there life to get to where they are at.</p>
<p>   11. Youre the only person that can create your happiness. Others can contribute but youre in charge.</p>
<p>   12. Walk by faith</p>
<p>   13. Dont take yourself so seriously. Nobody else does.</p>
<p>   14. Learn as much as you can. Especially about yourself. Self improvement is one of the best things you can do. Watch the movie the secret, read anything by dale carnegie, tony robbins, joe vitale etc. (It might sound cheesy but it can seriously change your way of thinking).</p>
<p>   15. Make friends and take care of them. Workout with friends, play basketball, volleyball, ect.</p>
<p>   16. If there is somehting you dont like, find a way to like it. I dont like alot of veggies, so what I do is I drink supergreens. I still get all the nutritients I need, I just dont eat the veggies.</p>

<p><strong>Its good to be back, was on haitis for a week. Working double time to get our new stone oak facility up and running, ( narrowed it down to 4 now).</strong></p>
<p>So I was watching a cool documentary about this awesome guy. Im pretty sure you know of him, his names Bruce Lee.</p>

<p>Almost everyone has seen his movies and know who he is in the karate world.</p>
<p>But what most people dont know is how much hes influenced the fitness world. By the way I have a friend who looks exactly like him when he lets his hair grow out. Too bad he cant fight like him.</p>
<p>Anyways Bruce lee was a pioneer in the fitness industry. Sometimes I wonder what the fitness industry would be like if he were still alive. Check out some of the &#8220;cool stuff&#8221; hes done.</p>
<ul>
<li>One of my favorites is his 2 fingered pushup. Seriously I tried this the other day, I used to be a powerlifter so I figured it would be pretty easy because im pretty good with my bodyweight. It was a no go, my fingers almost snapped in 2. <li>Then this guy made his own protein shakes. Way back before they were cool. What was weird was the stuff he put in them. At the time protein and other supplements werent available like it is now so he had to go and hand pick all the stuff like ginseng.  He would mix 2 cups of milk, raw meat, and 7 whole eggs into a blender and drink. I like my steaks medium rare and even I gag when I think about that. But he was onto something way before everyone else even thought about protein that much. </li>

<li>His speed was CRAZY! I have no idea how he got so fast! Secretly I think hes an alien but nobody beleives me. Check this quick video out.</li>

<li>Along with crazy speed he had amazing abs. I dont recommend some of the techniques to just anyone. Thats because not just anyone can do alot of his exercises. Take the dragon flag for instance, if you have a strong spine try this one. (I dont know who this guy is on the video but its not bruce lee lol.)</li>

Cool thing about this one is he understood the human body so well that he knew that he could actually put more force into a punch as short as 1 inch away rather than the big long punches that were around. Everyone benefited from this theory, from boxers looking to have stronger punches to baseball players looking to hit home runs. Heres another cool video:</li>

<li>One of my favorite things about him was he was a big beleiver in personal growth. He read alot and not only martial arts books but personal growth books. Check out this personal affirmation he wrote down 2 years before he even did his first big movie </li>

<p>Bruce lee has helped influence so many different areas from sports to fitness to martial arts. Just thought id share some of my favorite things about him.</p>

<p>Before I show ya the video, I wanna tell you a little something about Jillian. You see the first time she ever came into bootcamp and worked out with us&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;<strong>she passed out</strong>! After that I almost passed out as well lol!</p>
<p>But thats not what impressed me, what impressed me were the days to come. I honestly didnt think she was gonna come back after that. But the next day she was back! And the next day, and the next! <strong>Not only did she come back but she gave 100% every time! Shed come in, take the beating lol and come back stronger!</strong></p>

<p>All in all id say it was a pretty productive weekend <img src='http://www.thefitnessprodigy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' title="5 Things To Do On Your Day Off" /> </p>
<p>Ok on to the real stuff. I get asked alot about what to do on off days. Off days meaning days you&#8217;re not training. Say you workout mon, wed ,and fri then tues, thurs, sat, and sun are your off days.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>So here are 5 things to do on your off days that will help you reach your goals faster. </strong></p>
<p>1.  <strong>STRETCH</strong>- It sounds basic and simple but its one thing that even I forget about. I dont like stretching, but I do it because its part of the recovery process. Plus tight muscles lead to funny posture. Ever seen someone with a tight chest and weak back. They look like cavemen. Lets fix that.</p>
<p>2.  <strong>FOAM ROLL</strong>- Not too many people are familiar with it but it works wonders. If you are an athelete than you are probably familiar with it and its love/hate relationship. Here is the definition = &#8220;<strong>Foam Rolling</strong> is a Self-Myofascial release technique that is used by athletes and physical therapists to inhibit overactive muscles. This form of stretching utilizes the concept of autogenic inhibition to improve soft tissue extensibility, thus relaxing the muscle and allowing the activation of the antagonist muscle&#8221;. </p>

<p>3.  <strong>RECOVERY MEALS</strong>- Just because you dont workout that day doesnt mean you shouldnt eat like you do. Yes your calories should be a little lower than workout days, but it still should be clean foods. Good protein.</p>
<p>4.  <strong>SLEEP</strong>- Muscles recover and rebuild the most while you&#8217;re sleeping. Sleep is awesome. Your GH levels peak while you&#8217;re asleep. So it doesnt make sense to sleep 2-4 hours and expect to be recovered like a champ. Better and longer sleep is a secret thats not so secret. SlEEP MORE.</p>
<p>5.  <strong>REST!!!!!!!</strong> &#8211; Youve heard the term more is better? Well that doesnt apply here. Its a process. You tear down, then rest and rebuild. If you dont give your body a chance to rest and rebuild then its just gonna keep breaking down. The hardest part about this rule is actually doing it. Its a mental thing. You think by just relaxing your body is getting worse, dont worry its the opposite! If you absolutely CANT JUST REST you can do active recovery.</p>
<p>Active recovery is still resting but its doing it actively lol. Walking, running, etc. Anything that isnt rough. Nothing that competes or seems like the workouts you do on your ON days.</p>

<p>I hope you&#8217;re week is starting off right. Last week was awesome! Tons of people who bought our groupon for $20 came in and got started.</p>
<p>It was great!</p>
<p>I know all of them are gonna reach their goals!</p>
<p>Ok so about 2 weeks ago I set a goal for me and my team to hit a certain amount of people jumping aboard our &#8220;groupon&#8221; coupon. Our goal was to hit 1500 after we passed the 100o mark. Long story short we hit 1292 (which is still way awesome!).</p>

<p>When it comes to goals im old school. There&#8217;s either rewards or consequences. Sounds bold but its effective. I either reward myself for reaching goals or I either give myself a consequence for not reaching them. It kinda pushes me to really hit those goals. Its scary cause there is always a possibility I can miss my goal and get my ugly punishment but that risk helps me get out of my comfort zone so even if I fail I &#8221;FAIL FORWARD&#8221;!</p>

<p>Ok so going back to missing my goal. The punishment I gave myself is Running 5 miles!</p>
<p>Anyone who knows me knows I HATE RUNNING!!!!! I&#8217;d rather lie down on a bed of hot coal then run more than 2 miles.</p>
<p>So I ran 5 miles for punishment. And you know what I finished it and learned alot about myself.</p>
<p>On the good side for finishing and for also hitting my other goal I decided to reward myself with a fishing trip in my hometown.</p>
<p>There has to be some consequences in order to &#8220;MAKE&#8221; yourself reach your goals. Getting out of your comfort zone and &#8220;Failing Forward&#8221; are 2 of the best ways to reach any goal.</p>
<p>One of my favorite quotes is from Craig Ballantyne ,&#8221;You have to adjust your attitude to the point where you&#8217;re failing forward. You can sit on your ass and do nothing, or you can try something, screw it up, and still make progress. You&#8217;ll learn more about yourself when you start failing forward.&#8221;</p>
